Re: Proliant PL400 Fan failure error on post and in Netware
The 1611 POST Error cannot be bypassed and will always shut down the server until corrected. It is there to protect the hardware from cooking itself!
There may be a slight voltage difference in the fan you tried to install and the one it really wants:
http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/showphoto?partnumber=388490-001
Additionally, the Fan failure could be the Power Supply Fan (yes the same 1611 error with slightly different text)
http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/showphoto?partnumber=166814-001
Also, there can be two chassis fans installed... one in the front (in front of the I/O cards) and one in the rear attached below the power supply. If yours has both, make sure these are spinning.
Let me know what you find.

Re: Proliant PL400 Fan failure error on post and in Netware
HI.
Nope it was defenetly the "CPU" fun. The one that is attached to the back of computer. We didn't find any solution and HP says that new fan will cost 100â ¬ and 8day delivery!WHOA!!!So we take SCSI adapter from other server and connected winchester to the normal workstation.SO server is running now fine.So we are musted to buy new server.. With Netware ofcourse

Here is a link to the ProLiant Server Certification page for Novell:
http://h10018.www1.hp.com/wwsolutions/novell/index-all.html
As you can see, there are many servers to choose from for Novell.
Hope this helps you! -john
