R3000XR UPS Light Error

I have a R3000 XR High Voltage UPS with a ground fault/Crossed Wires light that has been coming on intermittently for the past 3 months. When I get the site it is always Green as it should be. Today I have found that it is on and blinking and sometimes changes back to green and then back to red blinking after a short time. There is no consistency to the pattern. The polarity and ground is correct at the wall outlet and the wiring of the pig tail is correct. Due to the sensitive softare DB that runs on these servers it was imposible to install the diagnostic software on any of the servers. I am about to condem the unit board but would like some feed back before I do. Troubleshooting and the KB's do not lend any more information on the subject outside of the two voltage/ground issues.

Re: R3000XR UPS Light Error

Ken:

For the peace of mind, have you had an electrician check out the 20Amp drop? You may just have a ground fault or a wire that is not completely screwed down.

Next, you could check the wiring harness of the batteries. There is a two part cable running down the right hand side of the battery. Be sure when you pull on the plastic cover, that you use both hands so it does not rip open. Be sure, when you are pushing the battery back in that it is fully seated. They are heavy and do not slide very well.

Re: R3000XR UPS Light Error

The voltage drops and wiring have been checked twice. This ia 230 Volt, 30 AMP circuit. I have also checked the battery pack which tested good. This unit has been in place for almost two years with no problems until the last three months. I would have expected that the the unit would have exibited the problem before this if it were in the wiring of the unit or batteries. But will look at this again. I first checked the unit itself back when it first started exibiting the error. Thank you for your suggestions.

Re: R3000XR UPS Light Error

You mentioned 20 AMP service. Is this a possible cause? The connector on the pigtail was a 30 AMP connector. The existing wall outlet was inplace and the connector and receptacle mathced. The circuit is 30 AMP.

Low-Voltage Models (192186-001) use a NEMA L5-30P
High Voltage Model (192186-002)use a NEMA L6-20P
