WMI on a NT4 Server
I'm trying to install WMI Core on a NT4 Server SP6a. The server is a LH3
When I run WMI config manager, I get the following messages:
"Failed to initialize all required WMI classes
Win32_Processor: WMI: Invalid namespace
Win32_WMISetting: WMI: Invalid namespace
Security information: Successful
Win32_OperatingSystem: WMI: Invalid namespace"
Plus I can't click on the different tabs of the WMI config window.
And then when I run a software using WMI, I get this:
"Could not connect to WMI, ensure WMI is installed and configured.
Error occured: 8004100e."
I would really appreciate some help !!!
thanks in advance.
Eric.

Re: WMI on a NT4 Server
Yes, that's what I did.
Even reinstalled SP6a. Still the same error...

Re: WMI on a NT4 Server
There is a /s for silent install.
Also /snmp if you are using it.
Have you tried these?
From looks of these logs it does not appear to be installed. Do you have the WMI service installed and started? I assume that you have tried to unistall and re-install?

Re: WMI on a NT4 Server
I ran the setup and didn't choose the snmp option (in fact I chose it once and the setup never finished). A WMI service is installed and running.
Unfortunately (like it's said during the installation) it's not possible to uninstall the WMI component.
Looks like I'm stuck !
Regards,
Eric.

Re: WMI on a NT4 Server
You can reinstall it, maybe worth a go using WMINT4 /s.
There is a utitly called WBEMTEST.EXE
try connecting to root/default.

Re: WMI on a NT4 Server
namespace, and click "Connect" to connect to that namespace
Click "Enum Instances..." and type "Win32_LogicalDisk" in the pop-up
text box, and then click "OK"
you shuould see a list of instances

Re: WMI on a NT4 Server
stop WMI service
empty and then delete %windir%\system32\wbem\repository folder
start WMI service
Once done, try repeating the WBEMTEST

Re: WMI on a NT4 Server
But here is what I found out:
I managed to find a server on which I installed a NT4 Server with SP6a but without upgrading IE. So when I ran WMI manager I got the same errors !
After upgrading, the problem disappears.
So I tried on my server to reinstall IE6 SP1 and after many attempts (error while upgrading,..) the upgrade worked...but I still have my problem !!!!

Re: WMI on a NT4 Server
I solved my problem last week by installing WMI on another NT4 Server and then copying the WMI folder + the registry key.
And it worked !!
I must have had a corrupted file or something.
Anyway thank you very much for your help mister !!
Regards,
Eric.
