Alerts

I have CIM v7 installed and I have installed the latest management agents on our compaq servers. Are all the alerts and traps configured from the CIM v7 PC or are there traps/alerts that need to be configured on the servers?

Please be aware that IM7 support ends 31 May 2005.

In order for the servers to know where to send their traps, you must configure the SNMP service on each system with the trap destination hostname or IP address. If you have a trust relationship established with your IM7 server you can use Replicate Agent Settings to distribute the trap destination.

HP SIM, IM7's replacement, has a 'Configure or Repair Agents' utility that will esablish a trust relationship and set the trap destinations automatically.
