Definition of ASR thresholds
I'd like some information on the configurable ASR thresholds for CIM v.8. Specifically, I'd like to find out what triggers an ASR. I have been able to toggle status between enabled and disabled through the Recovery => Automatic Server Recovery. However I have been to work out the intricacies of the events leading up to an ASR.
Any information would be useful.
Thank you.

Re: Definition of ASR thresholds
An ASR ( Automatic Server Recovery ) can be triggerd from a failing hardware device or from software ( corrupt driver ,etc ). CIM only reports the error message . Information for setting Thresholds is found in the online CIM User Guide .

Re: Definition of ASR thresholds
An ASR is caused whenever the system hangs and is reset by the ASR feature. The server might hang for a number of different reasons (some hardware issues, but most likely a software problem - blue screen for example.)
If your system is equipped with a Remote Insight Board you can view the last blue screen, otherwise there isn't much to go on.
If the situation continues, you might disable ASR so the next hang waits for you to see it.

Re: Definition of ASR thresholds
Hi Luke,
An ASR can also be caused when a service or application doesn't seem to be reacting anymore, but uses close to 100% CPU utilization. I'm not sure how long ASR waits for the service or application to be available again before rebooting.
