Device Information (using SNMP) not found on servers in CIM
Normal Device Information (using SNMP)
Insight Manager 7
I only see:
Normal Insight Management Agents
Legacy Version Control
Survey Utility
Xchange - Home
Integrated Lights Out
System Management Homepage
SNMP Explorer
I checked the community strings, on the server, and the CIM server, they are correct. I even tried to increase the snmp timeout and retries.....I do notice
Normal Device Information (using SNMP)
Insight Manager 7
when I click on a printer. The server in question is an HP DL380 running CIM agent 6.40 and I am using CIM 7SP2

Re: Device Information (using SNMP) not found on servers in CIM
if you disable the web Agent service on the server it will be forced to use Legacy System Support using SNMP

Normal Device Information (using SNMP)
Insight Manager 7
and as far as I know it doesn't have the insight mgr agent running on it...In any case I will make sure the agent is running on the server. Thanks

Re: Device Information (using SNMP) not found on servers in CIM
When you click on a Link to a Device that is an HP Server with the Management Agents installed and running then you should see:
Insight Management Agents
Legacy Version Control
Survey Utility
Integrated Lights Out
System Management Homepage
SNMP Explorer
If there are no Web Agents installed or are not running correctly the "Insight Management Agents" will be replaced by:
"Device Information (Using SNMP)"
This is the expected behaviour.
You will only See Insight Manager 7 in the list if you connect to the Server Device that is running Insight Manager itself.
In the above case, it would seem the Server running Insight Manager has a problem with its Web Agent running properly.
Is the HP Insight Web Agent running on this Server?

Re: Device Information (using SNMP) not found on servers in CIM
The process basically is this: Automatic Discovery basically pings an IP range and determines if a response is there. Device Identification goes through a series of questions (Can you talk SNMP, are you running ProLiant agents, do you have something on the following ports e.g. 80, 280, 2301, 2381, 8008, 8080, 50000 among others).
If your printer has a web service (HTTP) operating on port 280, it is possible that it is being mis-identified as Insight Manager 7.
What happens when you manually point a web browser to that device and specify port 280?
