Insight Manager grouping

Hi Everyone,

I'm using Insight Manager 7 SP2 and am having some difficulty with group configuration. My goal is to have a group within IM devoted to a particular group of servers. I've completed the query for notification regarding these servers, but I would like to create a seperate notification query that hits all servers EXCEPT for this group. In essence, I'd like a "standard" notification query for the majority of our servers, but would not include this secondary group. I took a look at the exclusion tab for the notification query, but could not determine a means of excluding anything. Anyone have any ideas?

Are your groups based on IP subnets or something? If so, you could exclude a single IP or an IP range. You could also do it the manual way of selecting Exclude by Device by Name and manually select the server names you are not interested.

You could also use the SERVER ROLE feature in the web agents to specify an owner or application or whatever you want, then exclude by Server Role if you wanted. Server Role was introduced in the 5.40 Agents and later (it is also Group Configurable).
