Insight Manager on Terminal Server

Hi, is it possible to have an installation of CIM v5.00 on a Terminal Server, so that the same can be accessed by anyone who connects to the Terminal Server. Thank you

Re: Insight Manager on Terminal Server

Hi Satisha, yes, CIM 7 does work under terminal server, so I expect CIM 5 also to work on TS. Greetz, Rene

Re: Insight Manager on Terminal Server

I suppose you mean the Win32 GUI - I've not tried, but Terminal Servers don't export SNMP to any sessions but 0 (console). I would expect you would have problems.

If you mean CIM7, you would not need to do this because each user would just use a web browser to connect.

Re: Insight Manager on Terminal Server

CIM 5 runs on a single machine. You can't run multiple instances of it - it doesn't work, and therefore is not compatible with Terminal Server.

I recon this is because of database locking issues - You can't run a single user database in multi user mode.

As a workround, we used to have it installed on a simple PC that was accessible using SMS Remote Control. This allowed more than one person to access and manage a single CIM console.

Re: Insight Manager on Terminal Server

Version 4.90 definitely works, obviously installing while in Install mode. This has been tested on both NT TSRV and Win2k. One problem I have is getting the agent to run on an NT 4 TSRV, I can get it run on Win2k but not 4. Has anyone got any idea's?

For running multiple clients with Insight Manager, each user will need the file "cim20.ini" copied to their Terminal Server Home Area.
