Insight Manager with Dell Computer
I am using Insight Manager XE for inventory of PC (Model, S/N).
I can see everything for Compaq computers but with Dell PC, the s/n and other information are not set in the SQL Table.
It generate error when I am trying to register the Dell MIB.
I can see information throught Insight manager DMI look for dell Computers.
Could anyone help me?
Thanks...

Re: Insight Manager with Dell Computer
Are you trying to manage the Dell server via SNMP or DMI? Make sure you have the right agents from Dell (and unfortunately I don't know much about them) running. I highly recommend using their DMI agents if at all possible.
Once you have their latest agents up and running rediscover the system with CIM XE and he should collect model and s/n info from the Dell when the Initial Data Collection Task runs (or whever a Data Collection Task runs.)
If you must manage the Dell with SNMP, then you are out of luck concerning Model and s/n. There aren't any standard SNMP MIBs for CIM XE to use to acquire this information so CIM XE won't collect this information. You should be able to compile their MIBs and thus recieve any alerts sent as SNMP traps from those systems, however. Note that compiling the MIB won't result in any data being collected - it just allows CIM XE to display meaningful details on traps.

Re: Insight Manager with Dell Computer
Here is what I have found out, we had to set our SNMP communities and trap info on the Dells and install the OpenManage Server Administrator. Attached is a link to a Dell white paper about doing this.
