Paging failure

My pages were working great under Insight Manager 4.8 on the same PC where I installed XE. However, they won't work under XE although I set it up with identical settings. Is there any difference in how XE sends pages compared to 4.8?? I'm not sure why they would stop working if the paging service and modem didn't change.

Re: Paging failure

I forgot to mention the error code in the pager log: it keeps saying error=995. Thanks!

Re: Paging failure

I just installed Insight Manager EX 2.0 and I cannot get it to page. It dials the correct number but it cannot communicate with my Sky tel page service? Paging works great on the old Insight? I called Compaq and they were no help.

Re: Paging failure

Try this: I finally got desperate and just tried different COM settings, and finally one of them worked. It is totally different than the settings on the old Insight, but I am not complaining! I think I used to use the default (even parity, 1 stop bit, 8 data bits) but now it is set to odd parity, 1 stop bit, 7 data bits. There is still an error code in the paging log (995) but the important thing is, the pages are being sent. Hope this helps!

Re: Paging failure

First, make doubly sure you are running XE version 2.1! This version has a number of paging fixes including a much improved paging error log.

If you are still having trouble after this, I'd suggest posting the error log here or calling into Compaq and opening a support case.

Re: Paging failure

I am having paging difficulty as well. I am running Insight Manager XE v2.1. I have the COM Port set to COM3 in the Modem Settings, but according to the Pagin Status Log files Insight Manager is still attempting to use COM1. Any ideas?

Re: Paging failure

No. 1 modem. It is actually a "virtual modem" using Tactical Software/s DialoutEZ to connect to a Cisco AS5300 modem pool. It uses COM3 and shows up as a modem in the Modems applet in the control panel.
