Problem with Manual Add/Edit
I have been experiencing difficulty with a number of 'Unknown' devices. I have checked SNMP settings, and verified everything is correct. I am running IM7 SP2.3 on Windows 2000, and the MSDE engine as a test prior to system-wide implementation to replace IM5.5.
At the suggestion of a previous post, I tried deleting the discovered unknown device, and manually adding it again. It did not seem to make any difference. The servers still show as 'Unknown'.
I Manually Added the entries, ensuring they were coded as Servers, using HTTP and SNMP, and the correct Monitor and Control Communities. I also checked the box for 'Resolve IP Address (DNS Lookup)", and cleared the checkbox for 'Ignore, and do not modify, previously discovered devices'.
The system seems to accept the input without any errors. When I go to Manually Edit a device, I input the device name, and click 'Get Device Parameters'. The name will be resolved, but will show as an 'Unknown', and the SNMP button is un-checked. If I attempt to update the entry, and 'Apply to device', then again there are no errors, but next time I check the info has not been updated, and SNMP is still un-checked.
Any suggestions? Maybe related to the use of MSDE instead of SQL2000?
