Unable to connect to VCRM.

Unable to connect to VCRM.

We recently opened up the ports (2301, 2381)in the firewall to our internet servers, so we can fully manage them. I'm getting this error on the dual NIC systems when trying to connect to the VCRM.

"The specified repository, xxxx, is invalid or not reachable"

The VCRM is on the IM server and I'm having no problems monitoring the systems or accessing the VC agent. The single NIC systems are able to find the VCRM without a problem. these systems are using agent versions 7.0 and 7.1.

Any ideas?

Re: Unable to connect to VCRM.

How are you trying to connect to VCRM? Were you able to browse to VCA or any agents from a dual NIC system by typing https://hostname:2381?
Check the proxy settings of the browser.

Re: Unable to connect to VCRM.

I am having no problem browsing to the VCA. The problem is when I "change the agent settings", after browsing to it, to point to the VCRM.

Re: Unable to connect to VCRM.

Can you ping to the VCRM machine from a VCA system?

Re: Unable to connect to VCRM.

Yes I am able to ping the system that's one reason this is confusing me... :-)

Re: Unable to connect to VCRM.

Can you try giving IP Address instead of hostname and also make sure that the VCRM service is running on the SIM server.
Can you browse to VCRM directly from VCA system?

Re: Unable to connect to VCRM.

I did try the IP and had the same result. I haven't tried browsing from the VCA to VCRM, only VCRM to VCA. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

Re: Unable to connect to VCRM.

I am also unable to browse back from the dual homed servers (single works fine). I'm going to talk with our firewall guys and see if they see anything getting blocked or if there is a difference in the firewall setup between the systems.

Were you able to resolve this issue? i'm having the exact same problem on a few of my machines.

Re: Unable to connect to VCRM.

Yes. Turns out our firewall guys only opened up one way communication on ports 2301 and 2381, from the IM server/VCRM to the monitored systems.

The VCagent was being blocked when initiating the contact. Once the rule was modified to 2 way, everything worked fine.
