Version Control Agent problem w/VCRM
I am having a problem with the VCA not retrieving files from the Repository... I have checked my SNMP settings to accept from any host and I have made sure that the trusts are correct, in addition to ensuring that administrator access is established. I can see the file to install and set it to force and re-boot after install but what I get is "The Smart componet file CP001656.exe could not be retrieved from the Version Control Repository on Server XXXXXX. Downlod stopped." in the details entry it shows additional data "HTTP_STATUS: 401"
I have beat my head on the wall for days trying to get this piece to work. Any assistance at all would be welcomed.
Humbly one brain dead tech...

Re: Version Control Agent problem w/VCRM
I had this same pb (at least same symptoms). Pb was actually that the install of the component was waiting for an ack on the server's console... the err message was the same which is all but misleading.

Re: Version Control Agent problem w/VCRM
The problem (I believe) turned out to be the repository itself. I had uninstalled the repository and then had problems re-installing it... Called Compaq and still had problems with it... The repository by itself would not install. I ended up installing CIM 7 SP1 over the top thus re-installing the repository (kept database intact) after that I had also used the cconfig.exe utility from CIM 5.4 agents to pre-configure the VCA, Survey and management agents to use the correct passwords for installation IE: the same password I used for the CIM 7 servers own VCA and repository... I also re-created a new certificate for CIM 7 server... I then ran setup from the CIM 5.4 server agents against the questionable VCA problematic target servers... Wham it all works no more http status 401 errors and I now have a working VCA and repository... Any questions please let me know... GOod luck.
