Why am I prompted to login again?

Hi there
I have a number of servers that are being monitored with Insight Manager 7 SP2. Everything is ok but when I view a couple of the servers and click on "SNMP Management Agents" I am prompted to login. Most of the other servers don't require this. Can anyone advise? Thanks

Re: Why am I prompted to login again?

Dan,
I see this on some of our servers. Seems to be ones with 6.4 agents on. My guess is that the newer agents don't pass through the automatic login. (most of our servers are at 5.x)

Thanks Bill
Yes I'm using the 6.40 agents as well. Looks like I may need to upgrade sometime!

You may find above 6.4 does the same as some would say passing the login through is a security risk - espesialy as you can reboot servers etc through the agents!

It sounds like you have the trust relationship setup between IM7 and some of your servers and not others. I would check the servers that require logon by browsing to their web agent (https://machine:2381) and going to Settings/Options and checking the trust relationship with IM7. They are probably not trusted, so you can put in the IM7 server name if you are comfortable with that, and it will retrieve the certificate for you.

Once the trust is setup, run the Daily Identification task in IM7 (or wait for it to run, it runs by default every 24 hrs). Once that task is complete, try that server and the auto-login should work fine.

If the problem persists it could be due to your DNS server not returning fast enough (we have seen this occasionally). You can go in IM7 under the Security settings for Admins and change it to use the IP address rather than the name (to take DNS out of the picture).

Hope this helps.
