HPQILO3 Issues with Windows 2008 R2 x64

Every 5 seconds I am getting 3 warning events in my Windows System Logs. My logs are filling VERY fast.

1) GetDeviceID failed: 0x80

[ Name] hpqilo3
- EventID 57
[ Qualifiers] 33026
Level 3
Task 0
Keywords 0x80000000000000

2) GetBMCGlobals failed: 0x80

[ Name] hpqilo3
- EventID 57
[ Qualifiers] 33026
Level 3
Task 0
Keywords 0x80000000000000

3) GetBMCGlobals failed: 0x80

[ Name] hpqilo3
- EventID 57
[ Qualifiers] 33026
Level 3
Task 0
Keywords 0x80000000000000

The ilo3 Firmware is up-to-date using firmware CD 9.10.

There are no problems using ilo3 but these warnings keep coming.

Any ideas as to how to stop the system messages?

Thanks

There is an issue related to Event ID 57 that was fixed in driver 3.3.0.0. I'm suprised it is not mentioned in the release notes.

Also, if you have iLO3 v1.10, you need to upgrade to a newer one. iLO3 1.20 is the latest as today of April 13th, 2011

DC Diag suddenly reports repeatedly (on one server only) after nearly a year of uptime :

      Starting test: SystemLog

A warning event occurred.  EventID: 0x81020039

            Time Generated: 07/21/2014   01:15:35

            Event String: GetDeviceID failed: 0x90

A warning event occurred.  EventID: 0x81020039

            Time Generated: 07/21/2014   01:16:05

            Event String: GetBMCGlobals failed: 0x90

A warning event occurred.  EventID: 0x81020039

            Time Generated: 07/21/2014   01:16:15

            Event String: GetBMCGlobals failed: 0x90

Event viewer shows it originates from : hpqilo3

Just restarting the following services in the services controlpanel did the trick for me:

  • HP Smart Array SAS/SATA Event Notification Service
  • HP Insight NIC Agents
  • HP ProLiant Remote IML Service
  • HP Version Control Agent
  • HP Insight Foundation Agents
  • HP Insight Server Agents
  • HP Insight Storage Agents
  • HP WMI Storage Providers
  • HP ProLiant Health Monitor Service
  • HP ProLiant System Shutdown Service
  • HP System Management Homepage

Hope this helps someone not willing to upgrade HP agents on a production server.

Kind regards,
