I got caught out by the v 1.95 fubar so just did a backup of the system in 1.95 as prescribed, created a new clean Hyper-V VM for a clean v2.12 installation. that all went fine.
but when I do a restore from file it fails with the following very useful and helpful error message.
"...indicates that a property was given the correct value type but the value of that property was not supported. This includes value size/lenth exceeded.
Correct the value for the property in the rest body and resubmit the request if the operation failed."
I booted back into 1.95 and did a test backup and restore with the same file and it is file.error
Solved! Go to Solution.
Also it's not this
Prerequisites for performing server system restore
* iLO Amplifier user with Configure Manager with Security privilege
NOTE: The default user in iLO Amplifier Pack does not have the Configure Manager with Security privilege.
Same error with "Configure Manager with Security privilege" on login account
System recommended content:
1. iLO Amplifier Pack 2.12 User Guide
2. HPE Integrated Lights Out (iLO 5) for Gen10 Servers - Configuring iLO Management Settings
Please click on "Thumbs Up/Kudo" icon to give a "Kudo".
Thank you for being a HPE valuable community member.

Thanks for saving me from a fully wasted afternoon Homerino! Your method worked for me!
Hi,
I have this problem as well. I am trying to upgrade from v1.95 to 2.16.
Restoring the config is not possible, same error:
I cannot find the download link to v2.10.
Anyone?
Hello @Tony87,

for us the solution was, to remove all special chars from the filename and even remove the file extension
backup-1234.txt won't work
backup-1234 won't work
backup1234 or just backup works
regards
My god... this worked, thanks so much!
I got a ticket open with HPE for the past 3 weeks with zero reply, tsk.
Now struggling with network settings on the new appliance, it won't set the NIC to static IP for some reason...
Pffft.
So don't reboot the appliance via vmware tools because it won't save your settings.
Instead reboot the machine via the "iLO Amplifier Diagnostics" menu.
Worked perfectly! (1.95 ---> 2.16) Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You gotta wonder why when doing a backup, HPE puts the .txt at the end of the file by default.
Thanks again, we're back up and running.
OMG this worked for me had issues with verison 2.20 and downgraded but then saw your solution. Went head and did a noew ova with the latest version and did the restore. That is funny cause in the document they provide they show it with a file ext and when it save it save it with a file ext. HP need to fix this.
