iLO 4 won't send alert mails
Hello,
I have a problem with the iLO Altert Mail of two HPE DL380 Gen9 servers running VMware 6.7.
The firmware of the server hardware is the latest SSP (2021.10.1) for Gen9, the iLO firmware is version iLO 4 2.80. The health of the server and iLO is fine, also the logs are clean.
Both servers are on the same customer network (dedicated iLO network port and VMware management). These are the only two "modern" servers of the customer.
The problem is that even if the machines are configured correctly (,which I think they are at least), they do not send alert emails. One of the servers sent once during my testing and troubleshooting. The rest of iLO works as intended (RemoteConsole, Virtual Media, SNMP, SSH, etc.).
I reset the iLO to factory settings - tried the default and only DHCP configuration -> no success, reconfigured everything else (static IP, domain, alert mail address, sntp, ...) -> no success.
I started logging on the firewall (default gate for the iLO) everything coming from the static IPs of the iLO -> nothing, only broadcasts via the HPE iLO Federation.
I've read about some configuration issues with alert mails and not correctly specific domain names (given via dhcp), but this is double checked. I have configured this manually, ipv4 and ipv4 dhcp is completely turned off.
Connected my notebook exactly to the patch cable of the iLO and gave the notebook the IP settings of the iLO -> via telnet on port 25 I was able to send an email to my destination mailbox firsttry (viewable in the firewall log).
Then I tried the reverse (iLO and notebook connected back to back) and gave my notebook the gateway's IP, called Wireshark and filtered against the iLO's source IP, sent test alert emails, nothing, just broadcasts.
It should be mentioned that the iLO logs are also empty, it says Alert Mail send but nothing in the log.
At this point I have no idea what the problem could be, if it was any kind of network issue why I don't see anything in the logs.
My next step is to move all the VMs to another node and bring the server to our lab and test it there (I know it definitely works).
Any ideas what I could check ? - I really don't want to derack the server and move all VMs (customer has still no vCenter, Hosts only...)

Re: iLO 4 won't send alert mails
Sorry but this isn't what i searched for.
I have a problem with the iLO intergrated function of sending an alert mail to an smtp relay.
SNMP works about fine, but this customer doesN't have any monitoring tool at the moment.
