All prior versions of iLo 4 README.TXT file (at least since version 2.50 dated Sept 2016) through the prior release 2.81 have included athe following warning:
***ATTENTION***
Note for ESXi users: If you are booted from the Embedded SD Card, it is strongly
recommended that you reboot the server immediately after updating the iLO firmware.
However, this note does NOT appear in the newly-released 2.82 version's README.TXT file. Was this the result of an accidental omission from the README.TXT file, or is this guidance no longer applicable for iLo4 v2.82 and an immediate reboot after upgrade for ESXi hosts is no longer recommended?

SolutionHello Patrick,
I see the SD card info has been mentioned in the iLO4 download page for ESXi.
Please refer the same under Installation Instructions: https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/softwaredetails?language=en_US&softwareId=MTX_b5d1373c4459449e8a3f6c3d65&tab=Installation+Instructions
Note: The iLO 4 firmware update does not require a server reboot; however, if VMware ESXi is booting from an SD card, a reboot is required.
Hope this helps.

Re: ilo4 new version 2.82 - missing README warning to reboot ESXi hosts running from SD ca
@ShruthiSK I accept your answer as a solution, it is fair to note that the information is present on current the iLO4 download page for ESXi. But I mean, what could possibly have been the motivation to remove these literally 180 characters of text from a Readme.txt file where they have been present for years.? Was it causing confusion? Someone at HPE had to make a conscious decision to DO that; I'm just struggling to see what the possible benefit could have been? It seems such an arbitrary yet intentional act that really has no benefit to either end users or HPE.
And if the iLo4 download page should have been considered the source of truth for this information all along, I *will* point out that the information about SD-card-based systems requiring a reboot only appears in the current release Installation Instructions back to the 2.77 version (Dec 17th, 2020) download page. The specific 2.76 (Nov 4, 2020) version download page - as well as (removed) version 2.53 and versions prior to 2.53 download pages) does NOT include the information about SD card-based system reboots - where the Readme.txt for all those older versions DOES include it.. It's a nit-pick, I understand. I'm just pointing out the lack of standardization in this particular documentation
