Hello,
In our environment we use the Directories Support for Proliant Management Processors tool to bulk update our ilo5 and 6 firmwares. This works great and quick. But now we have some ILO7 servers and the tool doesn't seem to support this. There is also no newer version of the tool as far as I am aware. We are using version 6.1.0.
Is there a different tool that lets us bulk update the ilo firmware for ilo5/6/7? I just need a tool to do ilo firmware updates. Which made the Directories Support for Proliant Management Processors tool perfect.
Thanks!

SolutionHi @ferluci ,
The Directories Support for ProLiant Management Processors tool does not support iLO7, and HPE has not released a newer version of it. For bulk iLO firmware updates across iLO5, iLO6, and iLO7.
- For bulk updating iLO5, iLO6, and iLO7 firmware now, I suggest, use either:
- HPE OneView or iLO Amplifier Pack — centralized GUI tools that support mixed iLO generations (check version compatibility).
- iLO RESTful/Redfish API scripting — use a script (Python or PowerShell) to upload firmware and trigger updates across iLO5/6/7. This is free, flexible, and supports all recent iLOs.
- Alternatively, HPE Smart Update Manager (SUM) or Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) can update firmware from the OS side, including iLO firmware.
- Recommendation: Use OneView if you want a supported GUI solution, or write a simple REST API script for automated, multi-generation bulk iLO firmware updates.

Re: ILO7 - Directories Support for Proliant Management Processors tool
Hello,
I thought so that that were my options. We've got all of that running but probably will use scripted methods via API using Ansible automation.
Do you have any idea if HPE plans to update the Directories Support for Proliant Management Processors so it supports ILO7?
