About event detection by polling by SIM(IM7) and SNMP trap form agent

Hello.
I have some question.
We use SIM, IM7 and Insight Management agent V7.1,V6.4.

1.Is there any different between the events that SIM(IM7) gets with 'Hardware status polling and the events sent by SNMP trap?

2.When the event occures and I hane configured SNMP trap distination address for Win2003 SNMP agent, have I repeat the event message form polling and SNMP trap?
If so,I don't want to get repeating message.
So,I clear configuration for SNMP trap.
Is this correct?
