Add Procurve 2900-48G to HP-SIM
Hello,
How can i add the HP procurve Swtich to the HP-SIM. I have compiled and registered all HP procurve snmp mibs (
http://www.hp.com/rnd/software/MIBs.htm
), but the 2900-48g where not listed on Managed System Types and when i make a identify system it will still displayed as unmanaged.
thanks
chris

Re: Add Procurve 2900-48G to HP-SIM
Unmanaged means that HP SIM was unable to communicate using a management protocol. Do you need to enable SNMP on the device? Does it have a community string that matches HP SIM's?

Re: Add Procurve 2900-48G to HP-SIM
The MIBs you've registered decode the traps the switch sends. But they don't help identify the device.
I'm surprised these aren't in HPSIM by default. But Unknown means HPSIM has found an accessible protocol, it just can't ID the device.
You can add new devices yourself, not near an HPSIM screen at the mo. but there's an option under Options that allows you to add a new system type. Adding System Types has been asked before so you might find more detail by searching the forum.
