After upgrade to SIM 5 no items to select in report wizard

Hi all

After upgrade from 4.2 sp2 to 5.0 i can't define reports, because there are no items to select in Step 2 of the report wizard (No data available). See also the attachment.

Anyone can help?

Execute the following commands and check if you have the reports and report categories upgraded.

mxreport -l -x category
mxreport -l -x report

I tried both commands and they were terminated succesfully with "ListReportHandler success".

But the problem still exist. There are no items to select.

Any other ideas?

I too have this same problem.

I first realised there was an issue when I tried to retrieve Data Collection Reports (from the "Tools & Links" tab) for a given server and it returned "No Data Available for this Device.".

Im stumped as to why this has stopped working..

Allthough this might be not the ultimate solution this one worked for me.
This is a bit of a destructive method because it clears most entry's in your database.

The command "mxinitconfig -r" clears your database and the command "mxinitconfig -a" rebuilds your database. After I've run these commands and reconfiguring some entry's (discovery, users etc.) I've ran a discovery and voila I can run the reports with the correct data.

What I didn't try is to skip the mxinitconfig -a first. This might rebuild you database with the correct entry's without removing the current data.

Tx for your answer.

I rebuild the database with "mxinitconfig -a". Unfortunately nothing changed.

Because i have a lot of users configured i don't tried the "mxinitconfig -r" command.

Perhaps that would be the solution. First i have to ghost my Server.

Thanks for the original info. The mxinitconfig -r fixes the issue, but completely removes all data (as you suggested). Running msinitconfig -a afterwards didnt bring any data back so I tried a restore and this basically brings back the original problem of missing data.

Looks like I'll have to re-init my installation and re-add all the servers/printers etc..

The only thing that works was uninstall/reinstall the HP SIM.

That was a lot of work:
Create again all scheduled tasks
Reconfigure Automatic EventHandling
Recreate all Users, toolboxes and authorizations
Recreate Email-Settings / Global Protocol Settings
Discover all Systems

As you say this is a lot of work, but you dont need to uninstal reinstal, just run mxinitconfig -r, then -a and then redo all the discovery and other tasks you mentioned.

Its virtually the same as uninstalling and reinstalling but cuts out the time to do so.

i was trying to login with the administrator-account ater purge the database. But i wasn't be able to login. Maybe a account or password problem. So i decided to de/reinstall.

Has anyone logged a support call to have this looked at to get an official response or fix from Hp?

Couldnt find a way to log a call other than ringing a US number.
