Bypassing JRE check ?

Is there any easy way to bypass the JRE check in SIM ? I'm sitting at a PC where SIM claims there is no Java driver detected and gives me the usual "install jre" dialog, the PC however has both 1.4.2_01 and 1.4.1_04 installed, and I have tried uninstalling them both, and reinstalling, and having SIM reinstall while installed and so on, and it just does not want to work.
Usually when I get this error I have found the easiest way is just to go into control panel and change the default driver used in the Java control applet to another version than the current, and if it still not works then changing it back to the previous setting will work in almost all cases. But not this time, and we have just reinstalled WinXP the last week so I had hoped not having do it again :)

Since you just installed WinXP again, is it possible that you have SP2 and haven't configured the firewall: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=809412
