Can I run WMI Mapper on a Virtual Machine?

I need to collect WBEM data on a bunch of DL14x servers & virtual machines behind a firewall from the SIM server. I'm successfully collecting WBEM data in another DMZ where I have the WMI Mapper (2.3.1) installed on a server and configured SIM to use it as a proxy. All is well there. However, I installed the WMI mapper (2.3.1) on a Virtual Machine in this new DMZ and configured SIM again, but no machines are reporting in with WBEM data. Unfortunately I have no other choice of places to run it in this DMZ. It's the same authentication domain as the one I'm collecting data from & I also tested local administrative accounts. Nothing. I have verified port 5989 is open and the VM is listening on that port. If I have the firewall opened up wide (to test) everything pops no problem.

Is anyone aware of any issues with running the WMI mapper on a VM, or is anyone doing this successfully?

Thanks,
Jeff

It shouldn't care that it's being run in a VM. Can HP SIM collect data about the VM the WMI is installed on?

Well, I can confirm that the WMI mapper works just fine on a VM...as long as DNS isn't an issue on the network, which was the culprit in my case. Lots of wasted time there.
