Can SIM discover HBAs?

Downloaded and installed the SMI-S providers for our HP EVA and MSA.

I noticed that there is also an SMI-S provider for Emulex. I downloaded it but I still have several questions on this:

1) Can one Emulex CIM see all the HBA's in a zone, or must it be installed on every SAN-attached server?

2) Will SIM recognize HBA's or is this support exclusively for Storage Essentials?

3) If the above is possible, can this be installed on the same server as the EVA SMI-S, or does it need to be a server without an existing SMI-S providor?

Stupid questions but this is new to me :)

SIM will recognise Emulex HBA's. Problem is that there are both HP-drivers and Emulex-drivers for the same card. HP Support Packs will not update Emulex-drivers.

Also, the Software Status in HPSIM for all machines containing Emulex HBA's will remail yellow as long as you use the (preferred) Emulex-drivers.

I do not know anything about Emulex CIM, so I cannot help you with that.
