Cisco MIB and CIM 4.2

Can anyone tell me how to import Cisco MIB files into HP Systems Insight Manager 4.2?
I have downloaded all the Cisco MIB files (.MY) and I don't know which files are relevant for 2950 and 3750 switches. I also don't know how to get them into CIM 4.2
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Cisco MIB and CIM 4.2

Hello

Copy those files in the HP\Systems Insight manager\Mibs folder
From the HP\Systems Insight manager\Mibs folder run mcompile mibfilename.mib from the commnd line to compile the new mib. After this a new file named mibfilename.cfg is created.
Regisrer the new MIB by entering mxmib -a mibfilename.cfg from the HP\Systems Insight manager\mibs command line.
Verify that the new MIB is registered by entering HP\Systems Insight manager\mibs>mxmib at the command line.

For more information on working with MIBs in SIM see the white paper "Compiling and Customizing MIBs with HP Systems Insight Manager" which is available at

http://www.hp.com/go/hpsim --> Information Library --> White papers

The problem with the Cisco MIB files is that all the extensions end in .MY.
As well, there are dozens of .MY files. Picking the ones that are relevant to the two switches that I am using is like buying a lottery ticket.

Re: Cisco MIB and CIM 4.2

Hi Karl,

I found it a bit of a nightmare too. I seem to think I may have just changed the extension from .MY to .mib, but I'm not sure.

A good source of MIBs is http://www.mibdepot.com. If you display the MIB in text format, you can just cut and past it into a file and give it the neame you want.
