Customize MSDE
Hi!
If I want to costumize my installation of MSDE.
I want for an example the database to be on the D: drive.
I also have an installation of an MSDE (WSS –sharepoint)
I have tried like I have done on previous installation of HPsim 4.x, to change the [setup.ini] for the MSDE installation
Targetdir=d:\msde
Instancename=INSIGHT
Sawpd=P@ssw0rd
DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0
The installation of MSDE database are successful.
When I start the customize installation of HPsim5, all authentication setup screens are successful, and the installation starts copy files…but I always fails when it tries to “create the database/apply database schema.”
Which steps should I do, to make an costomize installation of HPsim5 and MSDE
Regards
/Jonas

Re: Customize MSDE
From page 68 of the "Installation and User Guide":
If you have MSDE installed on a previous version of HP Systems Insight Manager
and are using MSDE and are upgrading to HP Systems Insight Manager 5.0. HP
SIM 5.0 requires that MSDE have the TCP/IP protocol enabled. Therefore, you must
enable the TCP/IP protocol when upgrading from HP Systems Insight Manager 4.x
to 5.0.
â Select Start>Run and enter svrnetcn.ext
â In the Disabled Protocols box, select TCP/IP
â Click Enable
â Click OK
My take would be that if you manually installed MSDE (which is what I did so that I could re-direct the location of the data files away from the system volume), then you will have to run the SVRNETCN.exe utility to enable TCP/IP (which I had to do). If you don't have this utility already in the MSSQL\binn directory, then extract it from the \Database\MSDE2000\setup\SqlRun.cab file on the 7.40 Mgmt CD.
Good Luck !!
