CW column in HPSIM 5.1 not updating

I have a test server that is displaying a valid entitlement in the remote support services tab of remote support config. But displaying a blue circle in the CW column of HIPSIM, how do I get HPSIM to see and display CW status correctly, as without a quickly identifiable warranty status the whole thing is a waste of time for me.

Also, I understand that I have got a pretty hefty data entry task on my hands in regards to manually entering PIDs etc... in order to get the thing to display entitlement status correctly, but is there any way to get HPSIM to run all the entitlement checks at once when I have got all the details updated. Or do I have to manually have to run entitlement checks and update the list for every HP server we are currently using?

As I am finding, that for an automated system, it's not very automated.

All help greatfully received.

Yes, you can select all the servers you want and then choose Options | Contract and Warranty. It will populate the list of all the selected servers and run the warranty checks against them all.

Also during the check, it's usefull to keep the log open as you can view the servers that fail the check and find out why, such as missing Product ID number. For some reason DL380 G3's are one of the models you have to manually enter a product ID for.

Also in the log, if you get any product ID mismatches, you can go back in manually and change them too.

I have found that the only time the warranty on a server will completely fail to check is if the S/N is invalid or blank.

Re: CW column in HPSIM 5.1 not updating

I have manually added PIDs for around 20 servers as a testand run the Contract & warranty collection task as suggested, with mixed results, 4 servers completed sucessfully, 2 servers were updated even though I didn't find support contracts for them? and the rest gave the following error, even thought they have valid PIS and support contracts:

There was a problem processing the request. Verify the Remote Support Client service is running, properly configured and that the HP SIM server has access to the internet.

As far as I can tell the service is up and running and configured correctly (hense the successfull results) and the server has the required internet access.

What is the problem with this, I suspect that if I manually do an entitlement check they will go through without a hitch.

Re: CW column in HPSIM 5.1 not updating

As I suspected I can manually check entitlement and it works fine, but it seems that there is a problem with integrating these results into SIMs table view. Have I missed something, I followed the installation instructions to the letter and in exact order including working around the missed step in the manual?

I was getting this same error:
There was a problem processing the request. Verify the Remote Support Client service is running, properly configured and that the HP SIM server has access to the internet.

So checked the services and Started the ISEE Client on the HP SIM server.. that seemed to resolve... let me know pls

Re: CW column in HPSIM 5.1 not updating

the ISEE Client service was already running, but I restarted it anyway.

Still no joy, I am running the contract and warranty information task against 3 servers that I have already successfully manually entitled in remote support services configuration, and the task is failing.

Re: CW column in HPSIM 5.1 not updating

A HP ISEE guru cane into the office and we identified the problem, basically, the very first time I instaled the Remote Support Software I did it via a Terminal session, this corrupted the installation and led to all sorts of problems. What we found out is that when you un-install the software, unless you go in and manually delete the folder structure in program files\hp and C:\HP etc... the subsequent reinstallation will have exactly the same problems.

We properly removed all traces of the software and re-installed at the physical box (not remotely) and everything worked 1st time.

The moral of the story is, DON'T INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE REMOTELY!!!
