Data Collection Reports contain redundant information

Hi all,

Data Collection Reports for servers in my enterprise often show redundant information. An example is attached: For a server with only one RAID controller, there are two lines in the report.

Is this normal, or does it indicate that there is some information in the SQL tables which needs to be purged?

Thanks,

Re: Data Collection Reports contain redundant information

This is the result of data collection from both the ProLiant agent via SNMP and WMI. WMI contains slightly different information most of the time because it is formatted differently and uses a different source for the information. The best way to address this is to only enable WBEM for non-ProLiant devices.

Re: Data Collection Reports contain redundant information

Thanks, David! That makes sense; however, I don't see how to disable WEBM in any way except globally (under the "Global Protocol Settings" screen).

How do I disable WEBM for Proliant devices?

Thanks,
- Steve

Re: Data Collection Reports contain redundant information

There are 2 ways, either by inclusion or exclusion.

1:

Include only the devices you want information from WMI. Uncheck the "Enable WBEM" box in Global Protocol Settings. Create a custom list that includes all of the devices you want to enable and display the list. Use the heading checkbox to select all. Now choose *System* Protocol Settings and check WBEM and provide credentials.

2:

Keep "Enable WBEM" checked in Global Protocol Settings. Display a list that includes the systems you want to exclude and select all. Use System Protocol Settings and change the selected button to "Use the values supplied below" and put in bogus credentials. NOTE: This will result in errors being logged by the WMI mapper.

Re: Data Collection Reports contain redundant information

David,

Thanks again. I followed your instructions; however on the "System Protocol Settings" page there is no option to enable or disable the different protocols. I can only choose between the "custom" settings or the "global" settings.

At any rate, I disabled WEBM under the Global Protocol Settings page, run data collection for one of the servers, and ran a Data Collection Report. The redundant information remains. :-(
