I recently upgraded from HPSIM 4.2 SP2 to v5 with little in the way of problems. All my previous settings were retained server side and I was able to connect to every managed system as I had previously.
The one section that I used a lot was the Data Collection Reports. Since the upgrade I am unable to retrieve this information. Instead we get a page stating;
"No data available for this device. "
I have checked, dbl-checked, triple-checked the SNMP, WBEM settings and these are as they were previously. Both server and client side.
Is there anything else I can look at to remedy this problem?
Appreciate any help or advice.
Chris.

Re: Data Collection Reports with HPSIM Version 5
Thanks for the quick response, but this didnt sort the problem for me unfortunately.
I tried both tasks and i still get the error I was previously receiving.
In the meantime I tried running;
mxreport -l -x category
mxreport -l -x report
From the command line on the server and this didnt fix the problem either.

Re: Data Collection Reports with HPSIM Version 5
I have the same problem. In the DomainManager.1420.out.log file there are a lot of statement that say:
We have a group that needs to be condition checked - id = GROUPID_XX_XXXXX
were XX stand for a group collection.
I don't know what to do from now either..
Let me know if you fond a sollution
Kind regards,
Erwin

Re: Data Collection Reports with HPSIM Version 5
This is a bit of a destructive method because it clears most entry's in your database.
The command "mxinitconfig -r" clears your database and the command "mxinitconfig -a" rebuilds your database. After I've run these commands and reconfiguring some entry's (discovery, users etc.) I've ran a discovery and voila I can run the reports with the correct data.
What I didn't try is to skip the mxinitconfig -a first. This might rebuild you database with the correct entry's without removing the current data.
Hope to be of some help.

Re: Data Collection Reports with HPSIM Version 5
Many thanks for the workaround, but for me this didnt work. I ran msinitconfig -a and all looked good.
I logged into sim and rerun a Data Collection task. When I tried to see the results on a server I got the same page as before. "No data available for this device"..
Something I have noticed whilst trying to fix this issue is that when I ran up MS SQL Enterprise manager to look at the raw MSDE tables is that I have two databases;
Insight_v1_0_1138544
Insight_v42_14411102
I have a feeling that data collection is being written to one database whilst the other is being used for normal operation within HPSIM.
Can anyone confirm that there is supposed to be 2 databases? or should hpsim be running just the one database?
Just so you know, I have been running hpsim since it was Insight Manager 7.0. I did a fresh install of HPSIM 4.1 when it came out and have done upgrades until reaching version 5.0.
Im reluctant to run mxinitconfig -r at this stage as Im not convinced it will work for me.
Thanks for everyones help so far.
Chris.

SolutionTo be safe you can make a backup of your databases and run the mxinitconfig -r and -a.
If it doesn't work restore your original databases (while IM is stopped) and start IM again.
This way you can safely re-populate your IM database.

Re: Data Collection Reports with HPSIM Version 5
Thanks for the original info. The mxinitconfig -r fixes the issue, but completely removes all data (as you suggested). Running msinitconfig -a afterwards didnt bring any data back so I tried a restore and this basically brings back the original problem of missing data.
Looks like I'll have to re-init my installation and re-add all the servers/printers etc..
Many thanks for your help.

Re: Data Collection Reports with HPSIM Version 5
I just tried this and it went through ok, but the problem remains regarding the Data Collection problem.
There must be something in the table somewhere that it doesnt like.
Anyways, I can redo the manual discoveries without much of a hitch.
Thanks again.
Chris.
