Event notification via SMS
Hi all,
I am looking for a solution to generate automaticly an SMS if a critical event occurs in the HP Systems Insight Manager (Ver. 5.0-SP4).
Here in Germany I have the possibility to send an SMS via ISDN ...but therefore, I must copy automaticly a file to a specified folder on the CMS-server if a critical event occurs.
Thank you for any ideas
Volker

Re: Event notification via SMS
The most common method is to send via an email gateway.

Re: Event notification via SMS
Hi David,
thank you for your suggestion ...we use an email gateway, but I am looking for a solution for a redundant server management. To generate an email and send it ...you need a lot of equipment which should work (email-gateway, Router etc.) ...I want to generate an alert if the email-gateway does not work. ...the connection via ISDN or an analogue modem works direct (without any other equipment which must be available).
Kind regards
Volker

Re: Event notification via SMS
I don't know about Germany but certainly here you can send an SMS message via a modem to the telco.
You'd need a modem connected directly to the HPSIM Server and some software to talk to the Pager. generally not difficult even a scripting tool like perl could do it.
You'd then just set up a Custom Command to do what needed to be done. You could even format the message a lot more to your liking using the variables sent by HPSIM to the Custom command.
