No alert/log when CMS of HPSIM is turned off.

I know that HPSIM is capable to send out email alerts when the managed servers are down. I have added such task and it is working fine for all managed servers, except the CMS (the server that has HPSIM installed on it) itself.

When I reboot the CMS, I receive no email from HPSIM. Is there any way to keep track of the CMS?

Thanks!

Does anyone know the answer?

Or was this question posted before, so nobody answers?

Re: No alert/log when CMS of HPSIM is turned off.

As has been observed at times when a security person is engaged to guard something of value, who's watching the watcher?

If the CMS goes down, whether that is the application itself or the entire system, whether intentionally or by some catastrophic event, there is no guarantee it will ever come alive again. The only way to be sure would be to configure another system to monitor the first.

Re: No alert/log when CMS of HPSIM is turned off.

So, can I install the HPSIM on another server too? Or only one CMS is allowed?

Re: No alert/log when CMS of HPSIM is turned off.

HPSIM can be installed as many times as you want, after all it is free.

You may want to restrict how many Devices it monitors though.

You could also use the second installation as the test platform for new HPSIM Patches etc.
