Flood of events after server reboots

I'm at the latest revision (4.2 SP2 - Build date 4-12-2005) but I still get floods of repeat events when some servers are rebooted. I cannot tie this to any specific agent version as even servers with the 7.30 agents do this. The only way to stop the flood is restart the SIM services.

Re: Flood of events after server reboots

Hi Steve,

I know depending on the system, you may or may not get various alerts.

For example, when a cluster node fails I usually get 4 or 5 alerts because both nodes are reporting a problem.

Is this what you mean by flood (4 or 5) or are we talking about 10 or 20 alerts (or more)?

Re: Flood of events after server reboots

For example, if the server being rebooted has exceeded a disk quota set at 80% or 90%, SIM Events will continue to fill with thousands of duplicate traps for "Rising Threshold Passed" until I restart the SIM Service. Overnight what should be 3 to 10 Events, turns into 20,000 duplicates. Restarting the agents on the specific server doesn't do anything, so my thought is that this isn't an agent issue, it's a SIM server issue.
