Health event's not sending notifications

Hello,

I am new to HP SIM completely. Unfortunatly we are a dell shop so this is new to me. Our ISCSI san company has started using DL380 G4's for their hardware :). I have installed HPSIM and can see the devices and their health status. I am trying to test getting emails when a power supply or drive fails. When i pull a power supply cord the heath status shows major but it dosent send an email or show an event. Is there a specific event that I need to setup an automated task for? Or how do I get the health status to create events? Thanks for you help in advance!

I assume you are running HP SIM 5.0, when you set up your Action on Events task (under the Options/events menu), tie it to the "Uncleared Important Events" list. This will notify you on all Major and Minor events that occur. Is that how you set it up?

That is how I set it up. And when I pull a power cord, the health status shows a major event but the system events dont get an entry.

Make sure you have SNMP setup correctly on the managed node. Trap Destination, etc. You can use SIM to set this via Configure/Configure-Repair Agents tool. This will automatically setup SNMP for you (comm string, destination, trust, etc.). Give this a shot, then try the test. By the way, the Agents have a 'test trap' you can send in the Control Panel/Insight Agents (so you don't have to pull the power). :)

Hope this helps.
