Hi again. I having problems getting HP SIM to send me less generic alerts. Currently, all I get is a message that says that something critical happened to a device. I tried to use the Event Category filter but the lists seem to cryptic. All I want is to know when my servers and/or switches go offline or are having perf problems. The swtich vendors tell me to go to HP for this. Any suggestions?

Solution
Which devices are you having issues with?
From your last comment it seems you're expecting more detail from non-HP Devices or switches etc.
If a device goes offline, you should get a quite specific Critical Alert from HPSIM generated, this would be the Device Unreachable Event.
What are you not seeing?

Re: Help for creating better alerts in HP SIM
Please ignore my inquiry about better alerts. I've done more research since then, I understand HPSIM alerts better and have configured it to send me the alerts I need. Thanks for the follow up!
