How to keep SSD up to date

I wasn't going to ask this, because it's probably trivial to most people, but I am getting frustrated. Ultimately, I would like this software (SIM v4.2) to assist me in finding the servers that are not up to date on SSD software or firmware, etc. I read the discussion about how the custom lists don't seem to be working correctly, but I have a different issue with them. I would like a report/list/whatever that tells me what systems are NOT at a particular version. You know, essentially "SSD Version < 7.2". Seems like I ran across a server that was using older than v7.0.0 of the SSD. My only option for the custom list seemed to be to include systems that were version 7.0.0, or include systems that were version 7.1. If I have something older, it will fall through the cracks. Does this question make sense? Does it seem like too much to ask? Thanks!

Re: How to keep SSD up to date

Hi Kurt,

I ran into the same thing as you. I wanted to see what servers were below the current version (7.20a).

I was able to do this by creating a custom list. (See the attached screen capture)
When you create a new list, I used the following criteria:

Search for: Systems
where: software/firmware
system type: System Software Baseline
OS is: Windows 2000
software/firmware is: Software Bundles
name is: IS Proliant pack fpr MS Windows 2000
version is 7.20a

You should be able to use something similar.

Hope this helps!

Re: How to keep SSD up to date

Kevin,

Sorry I haven't commented - I was in the Bahamas! REALLY wish I was still there!! If I understand your solution, you are creating a list of the systems that ARE current (=7.20a), which implies that everything NOT on the list, isn't current. How does one display/print THAT (not in the list) information. I have not had a chance to try this, so maybe the answer will be obvious. Thanks!

Bahamas? MUST be nice!!

Sorry, for some reason I thought that you could set the = in the version line to <> (not equal). 7.20.

Re: How to keep SSD up to date

That was my assumption too, when I first started down this path - but there is no <> option. This is weird anyway - I created a list to include the 7.20a systems, and it came up empty. I KNOW I have a few of them! Guess I'll have to play with it some more. It sure does seem stupid that there isn't a way to generate a list of systems that do NOT meet some criteria. Thanks again!
