HP SIM and EVA discovery

Hi,

What port (and mechanism) is used to discover the EVA in HP SIM ?

Kind regards,

Re: HP SIM and EVA discovery

I hope I won't put too much acronyms.

SIM uses WBEM to discover the EVA, so you need to have an SMI-S agent installed on your Storage Management Server. It's normally included with Command View, if you did a typical install it should be already there. 6.0.2 and up are supported, but if you don't want to use the administrator account, you need to set up a wbem user that is part of the HP Storage Users group and has access to the CIM running on the server. With more recent versions, I think a trusted certificate is used so you don't have to do this.

Check the RSP prerequisites guide. It has all the information to do this.

Olivier.

Re: HP SIM and EVA discovery

Hi,

We installed CV-EVA 9.0.1 What I don't understand is that without message the SSL port (specified in the cxws.properties)has been changed to 60000
I suspect that this port (which is normally 5989)should be used to discover the EVA. Where can I see which port is used by the SIM to get the EVA information.

Kind regards,

Re: HP SIM and EVA discovery

SIM discovers the EVA via the server hosting CV.
You can enter server specific wbem credentials including the port there.
You can also use the wbemdisco utility to verify connectivity. Just enter wbemdisco and you'll get a GUI that you fill out as appropriate.
