Re: HP SIM and proliant warranty lookup
Which version of SIM do you have? Did you install the WAC when you installed SIM? After you install it, there is some configuration you need to do before it shows up in SIM.

Re: HP SIM and proliant warranty lookup
After you have installed SIM, assuming you enabled the above option, you would see an icon on the desktop of the SIM server which allows you to configure the software. Make sure you are NOT in a RDP session. It will not work! You MUST be at the console of the server. The icon name is "Remote Support Software Manager (Windows Administrators only)". When you run this, it sets up some soft of software updating system. This system then will download a bunch of additional software which makes the warranty stuff show up in SIM.
To be honest, I really don't understand what HP is trying accomplish with all this...why don't they just include all the needed software in the SIM package. But that is just the way it works. It took me quite a while to figure out how this works (especially the RDP thing) - so don't feel bad if you get extremely frustrated with it. Once you get it working, it is 75% useful. You will find it cannot get warranty information automatically on older servers without some manual intervention on your part.
Good luck
