Hi,
I have a HP ProLiant DL380 G3. The machine is a linux file server running RHL 8.0 (Psyche) with the default 2.4.18-14smp kernel (the machine is a dual Xeon 3.06GHz),
To monitor the system activity or to configure prefailure alert I need a Insight Manager which should work with Red Hat 8.0
From HP website they have an SIM version 4.2 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 AS and ES Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 AS and ES.
So the same ersion will work for me on red Hat 8.0 ??? if not is there any utility will solve my problem ?
Also we have almost 24 HP servers(Most of them are Proliant and HP 9000) as,
HP Proliant Series DL 380G3,DL360G4 -->>Windows 2k Server ,Redhat 8.0 ,Redhat ES server AS3 Update 3
HP 9000 Servers K250,K350,K370,rp5470,rp 2470 -->>HP-ux 11.0,HP-UX 11iv1
I need to use the SIM4.2 utility for this.
Now my queries are, If I'm planning to install SIM4.2 on Prolinat DL 380G3 Windows or a Linux Server after the installation to manage other HP nodes I required any HP additional agents for HP-UX ,Linux and Windows or I have to install SIM on each node ?
Whether it will require reboot for SIM Server also for node ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Vinod

Solution
RedHat Professional 8.0 is end-of-life and no longer supported by the vendor. However, you do have some options.
Your DL380G3 servers running RHP 8.0 can be made manageable with the ProLiant Support Pack which currently is in release 7.10b. This is because RHP8 was still active when the G3 was released. Your DL360G4 servers came out after RHP8 was discontinued.
In general, we cover the most recent release and 1 back for OS support when qualifying applications such as HP SIM. Thus, while we cover RHEL3 and RHAS2.1, we don't cover RHP any more.
Supported software is documented in a matrix found by going to http://www.hp.com/servers/manage --> SmartStart.

Re: HP SIM for DL380G3
HP SIM will use WBEM services for HP-UX systems. More info at http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/cache/11380-0-0-225-121.aspx
