HP Sim mibs without the sim

Hello,

Not sure if this is possible. I don't want to load up HP Sim because it installs a webserver but i want to access the OID's and MIBS that HP provide.
Can i load just an agent that doesn't load a webserver and all the other services come with it?

Cheers.

Re: HP Sim mibs without the sim

It is not possible to install HP SIM without its WEB Services. Though, you can always run SIM commands in command-line/console.

But remember you would be able to execute basic operations(it most of the operations). In WEB mode you would be able to perform all the operations in HP SIM.

To learn more about the commands/operations supported by SIM, refer to HP SIM Docs.

It's the ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) that provides the HP specific OIDs on your managed systems. Download it from http://hp.com/go/bsc by selecting your one of your server models and the appropiate OS.

Then there is also a MIB kit that might help:

Re: HP Sim mibs without the sim

HPSIM has a service that listens for https access on port 50000. It doesn't install a webserver as such.
HPSIM is a monitoring tool, what are you hoping to use instead?
You could install HPSIM somewhere and just extract the mibs directory, but not really sure how that would help you.
Also, it's the agents on the remote servers that monitor the hardware, HPSIM just processes the traps etc.

Yeah the PSP is what i use on the windows boxes but this is HP-UX so i assume its equivalent is HPSIM.

I have a monitoring tool that just uses snmp and ssh to gather data. But when i snmp walk the HP-UX boxes not alot comes back compared to the windows boxes with the PSP installed.
