HP SIM Paging service not working
I have HP SIM set up, and running. When I set the system to notify me via email of all logins of logout, it emails me as advertised. however, when I attempt to use the paging feature, I get no notice to my cell phone. I have the com port set to COM 5. I used Hyperterinal to test COM 5, and it dialed my cell phone properly.
I'm using 18668837243 for the phone number and my cellular number for the PIN.
I even tried putting me cellular number directly in the phone number field for my user jsut to see if it would ring my phone. I tried the number wth and without the area code and a leading 1.
Am I missing a setting somewhere to turn the paging on? I'm selecting it in the event notification options, I set the phone numbers under user, and I set the COM port for modem settings. what else is required to get this thing to send me a page in teh event of a server down?
And just in case you're going to suggest I use the email service or SMS through our exchange server, the paging service is to be implemented in the event that the exchange server goes down...Ao I really want the modem to dial AT$T and page my cell phone.
Thank you for your time and understanding,
Brandon

Re: HP SIM Paging service not working
Problem solved. Apparently HP SIM didn't like my modem. I was trying to use a 4-port Digi modem. I hung an external US Robotics on the box, and my pager started beeping.
All is well. For now...
Thanks,
Brandon
