HP System Management Homepage service

Does anyone have any idea why this service cause logoff/shutdown to take so long?

Quite a few of our administrators have been complaining our servers were taking a long time to logout. I tried three SmartStart versions (7.10, 7.20, 7.30) to try and nail down the problem. Version 7.10 uses the old CPQHMMD.ACL for authentication. Versions 7.2 and 7.30 now use OS authentication and the HP System Management Homepage service.

As soon as the SMH service is stopped, logoff time drop from the mid-forties, to less than ten seconds. Unfortunately this makes it hard to monitor the systems.

Anybody have a solution?

Re: HP System Management Homepage service

This behavior has been discussed in several places within the forums. The problem is that it adds approximately 30s to the logout - I guess if you login and logout a lot during the day it can add up. Anyway, there is a fix that is in process and should be taken care of in the next "official" release of the System Management Homepage component. Due to possible variables in the release cycle it is not possible to claim an exact date for release.

OK. Thanks for that info. I'll pass it along.

I guess I missed those other posts.

Re: HP System Management Homepage service

The latest version of the System Management Homepage has been released (v2.1.0.121), and is available at:

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/Server/us/download/23065.html

This fixes the long logoff times. In my case, it went from 42 seconds, to <4 seconds.
