Hi,
I have an IBM x-series cluster with Fibre HBA's & a Hitachi back end.
Its running Microsoft Cluster Services & has been for a long time.
Recently, one of the clustered disks ran out of space & caused me a real headache. I currently use HPSIM to monitor all my HP estate - consisting of HP Blades, C7000 chassis, Virtual connect, VMWare & Procurve.
I'd like to use HPSIM to monitor the disk space on my IBM cluster.
I have configured SNMP trap destination & community strings on the IBM servers & I have added them to HPSIM, but I cannot see any disks, I can only see model type & serial number.
Also - when I add the cluster name to SIM, & click on tools>system information?cluster monitor I get an error asking me to check SNMP, Install HP Management Agents & verify the cluster is configured correctly.
SNMP is correct, but as its IBM, I cant install the HP Management Agents.
Is there a route forward?
Thanks
Steve

Solution
You would need an agent or similar on the IBM Servers that monitored the disk space.
That could then generate an SNMP Trap.
You would then need a MIB capable of interpreting the trap sent.
So while it is possible, it's not easy.
HPSIM is primarily a tool for monitoring HP kit, and for free it does a good job.
But if you want to have a more heterogenous environment and a single monitoring tool then you may need to step up a notch or two.
