Ideas on configuration settings ?
Hello
We have recently upgraded our old CIM7 installation to SIM 4.1, and we have a few issues with scripts and tasks not working properly. My HP contact recommended I post a question in these forums in case anyone has any ideas on solutions.
These are the main issues we have noted
1. In CIM7 we used "Trust By Name" as authentication method between the CIM server and the managed nodes, in HPSIM this has changed, i.e. instead of using the servername you now have to use the fully qualified domain name (fqdn)/dns-name. I believe the setting is stored in registry or some INI-file, has anyone any experience in easily reconfiguring this setting on the managed nodes via script (I'm not too fond of doing it via the IE GUI on 1000+ servers) ?
2. After upgrade the old event driven tasks do not work as before, we used to have a task that sent an email whenever a new device of type server was discovered, after upgrade it sends an email whenever a new event happens, which creates quite a few mails and is not what we were looking for. Has anyone configured an email notification for newly discovered systems in HPSIM ?
3. We also used to have a script in CIM7 that ran on a specific query, and whenever a new device was present in that query (defined a critical devices of type server) a command would be executed, sending an alert to another management system as well, and whenever the device was not present (i.e. no longer critical status) there would be a command sent telling the other system status was ok again. In HPSIM only the "system down" script gets executed, the "system back online" script for some reason never runs. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this ? The log just says that the syntax of the command is invalid, which I don't see how this would be since it's almost identical to the "down"-command, one batchfile for down, and one for up, either both should fail or none, or the error must lie in the HPSIM logic instead.
Thoughts and ideas welcome, as we would like to see a solution to the problems instead of rolling back to the old version.
Kind regards
