Initial PSP installs via setupc.exe, VCA issue?

Hi All,

I was planning to run my initial PSP installs for our Windows 2000/2003 servers via setupc.exe

I copied the directories from "PSP for Windows 2000 Version 7.60A" and "PSP for Windows 2003 Version 7.60A" into one directory called Deploy. I configured the configurable components for the agents to work.

Should I keep the directories sepperate and only upgrade one OS at a time?

I tested setupc.exe like so e:\deploy\setupc.exe /use-latest /t:server-name /r

setupc.exe ran and upgraded most of the components that were outdated from PSP 7.50 and the server rebooted like it was set to.

The components that were not installed I figured they needed a bios update or were not supported.

The one issue I ran into was the VCA agent on the target server lost it's password where it was configured fine before. Has anyone run into this before?

Thanks!

Dana

Was the password the only thing that you lost in its configuration? If so, how are you determining that it was lost?

Re: Initial PSP installs via setupc.exe, VCA issue?

Hi Rich,

I had the VCA agent setup and working running PSP Windows for 2000 Server 7.51A. By setup and working, I mean if I went to the servers VCA configuration and then change agent settings I would see the fields Computer Name, Login Account and Password pre-filled out from setting them up. I could see what drivers had updates available via the VCA.

After upgrading to PSP Windows for 2000 Server 7.60A via "deploy\setupc.exe /use-latest /t:server-name /r" the update ran good. I noticed the software status had a question mark next to it in the hpsim console after the upgrade. I went into the VCA config for the server upgraded and the password was no longer filled out even though in the RDU the VCA configuration was pre-setup with the account and password for the VCA.

Thanks,

Dana

Re: Initial PSP installs via setupc.exe, VCA issue?

I'm going to try the initial deploy support pack option. Right now it's saying "There are no Support Packs in this repository." where I have 3 PSP's uploaded to the Repository.

I'm going to type up another post to see if my rollout plans sound good or not.

Thanks,
