Insight Management Agents for Clients
Hi All,
I've got the job of updating an old SOE to run on DC7700 SFF hardware. I just reimaged the desktop, loaded the latest drivers and its running OK except for one issue. Occasionally the SNMP.EXE service runs at 50% utilisation - effectively one core is flat out. I can't stop or kill the service. I'm pretty sure its related to the "Insight management Agent" loaded on the device crashing out then confusing the SNMP service. The only solution (that I've found) is to reboot.
My issue is that the latest version of this agent is 5.01D dated May 2004. It this agent even used these days? It used to notify if the RAM was changed, temperature of the system etc but now I'm unsure what HP recommends for this.
Does anyone have any info on what the "best practise" for this is. I note that the download page for the DC7700 has a "Radia management agent" - is this the replacement or do I need a Radia server at the other end. We are using Altiris for asset and deployment but this is a different function set from the old agent. I've searched for white papers etc on DTM and can't find any HP stuff younger than 2004.
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers
Tony
