Re: Insight Power Manager

You mean just from another machine / another browser? I'll try but my boss has the same results already.

Re: Insight Power Manager

If all the licensing is setup (which it sounds like it is), when you drill down on the System Page of one of the G5 servers and there is the Insight Power Manager section. Do you get a graph? If not, it should state whether your iLO credentials are set or not.

Under Options/Insight Power Manager Options make sure you have your iLO credentials set. If not set, put them there, then run the Identification task against that node.

Should work then...

Re: Insight Power Manager

Well...that SP1 upgrade just blew up my install! Now HPSIM will not start... and when I run the mxinitconfig -a command I get the following errors.

hp.com.hp.mx.database.DbVerificationException: Error loading database verification handler 'com.hp.mx.database.MsSqlVerificationHandler'
com.hp.mx.database.DbVerificationException: Error accessing database

Now I'm dead in the water...looks like a system state restore is in order!

Re: Insight Power Manager

Server and system state restore made no differenece... there must be a problem with the database; I'm going to restore the database from a previous night.

Re: Insight Power Manager

It gets even better...just found out the sql2005 database was not being backed up due to a software problem...! Different issue!

What is your best suggesting now...
1) Delete everything and start fresh; may need a manual un-install for hpsim

2) Re-install HP SIM over current install connecting to a new sql instance?

3) Some other recovery option???

Thanks for everyone's help up to this point.

Re: Insight Power Manager

The best solution is start from scratch:

Delete Windows and redo it
Install HP SIM and rediscover everything

Or try remove all hp sim..but there will still be junk staying around some where, delete all HP folder in program folder .

HP sim is not much to do, what long is to programme correctly all client.

Re: Insight Power Manager

Before you uninstall, make sure you back up the CONFIG directory especially (that has the cert). There's a backing up SIM whitepaper on the Information Library if you haven't already seen it....

FYI, the Sp1 'update' if you are already running 5.1 doesn't do any schema extensions or anything to the db. Did you maybe have a password change or something happen and the services need to be changed?

You should be able to uninstall SIM and then reinstall.

Re: Insight Power Manager

Thanks for the info...
So, I should backup "C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\config"...

Let me pull down the doc and give it a read.

No accounts chnaged; no services stopped running...just get the attached event in the event log...and the following message after running the suggested fix:

mxinitconfig -a
C:\Documents and Settings\s-bsii_hpsim>mxinitconfig -a
