Integrating OS/400 Management with HP SIM
Hi
I finally found a way to monitor my IBM machines, running OS/400. But I only have one problem, and that is I want to get OS/400 Management to work with HP SIM, because I want to use onky HP SIM to monitor my HP and IBM systems in my Data Center.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this successfully?
Regards

Re: Integrating OS/400 Management with HP SIM
Hi
regarding managing non hp devices in HP SIM I would advise you to take a look a t the following documents :
http://h10018.www1.hp.com/wwsolutions/misc/hpsim-helpfiles/simsnmp.pdf
and
http://h10018.www1.hp.com/wwsolutions/misc/hpsim-helpfiles/hpsim_managing_nonHPservers.pdf
Some IBM mibs are already compiled in HP SIM. However, they are not active. Besides, these mibs are only relevant for blades and regular servers. It doesn't support AIX, AS400 based platforms.
In order to manage them properly in HP SIM :
1/you would need to install the dedicated IBM agents on these platforms and configure them to send traps to HP SIM.agents
2/Add the system through manual discovery.
3/Find the related mibs for your hardware and compile them in HPSIM.
4/Create relevant identification rules in options/ system type manager to identify your machines properly.
All these steps are described in more details in the docs I mentionned earlier on.
Hope it helps
