Listening port for System Management Homepage
Hi,
I'm trying to restrict the System Management Hompage to listen on only one network interface. Is that possible and where do you do it?
Currently the HP System Management Homepage for Windows Version 2.0.2.106 will listen on port 2301 and 2381 for each network interface defined on the machine.
Thanks,
Ana

Re: Listening port for System Management Homepage
Currently, there is no way to restrict the SMH to only one port. For backwards compatibility reasons it still responds on port 2301. However, for anyone browsing to 2301 they are automatically moved to 2381 and HTTPS for a secure sign-on.

Re: Listening port for System Management Homepage
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I'd like to know why on some machines the Systems Management Hompage binds to one ip address and on some it binds on all ip adresses defined on the machine?
I have one machine for example that has two ip addresses (two NICs). When I install SMH it binds to one ip address and listens on port 2301 and 2381 on that ip address but not on the other ip address for that machine. The agent in SMH System Info sees both ip addresse.
Thanks,
Ana

Re: Listening port for System Management Homepage
Well default behavior is to bind to all that are in the system. Are you doing any NIC teaming? Also, SMH has a feature for binding to a specific IP address or a set of IP addresses - is it possible that the IP binding feature got turned on for only one of your IP addresses? If not perhaps you can try and specifically add all the IP addresses in the IP binding setting to get past what you are seeing.
