Looking to set the Asset Tag on multiple servers?
Here is a little tool that leverages HPSIM, SSH, and CONREP from the SmartStart Scripting toolkit to be able to set the asset tag on multiple servers remotely. It utilizes a file that can be set up ahead of time to give unique values if wanting to have each system utilize a completely unique tag (as in most cases). For ProLiant servers, you have two tag lines, so you have the capability to set both lines.
Keep in mind, this is setting it in SMBIOS on the server, and based on the SMBIOS spec, that data is only read during POST time of a server. This means HP SIM can not Data Collect the Asset Tag information until the server is actually rebooted.
It has a mini-installer and a PDF describing the tool in the zip file.
Hopefully this comes in handy for some folks. Post out enhancements if you come up with any...

Re: Looking to set the Asset Tag on multiple servers?
Looks like in the editing of the PDF file to make it smaller in order to hit the 'under 1 MB' limit, the installation piece was removed.
To install it, unzip the files onto the HPSIM server and just run the install.bat on the command line.
